Rhiannon Pelletier
  Rhiannon Pelletier has been a member of the Maine State Ballet Company since age fourteen. She has been classically trained in ballet by Linda Miele (a former pupil or George Balanchine and artistic director of the Maine State Ballet) as well as tap and jazz. She has performed with the Maine State Ballet since age nine. Now eighteen, she has worked her way up to soloist position in the company and has performed roles such as Chocolate from Spain and Coffee from Arabia in The Nutcracker, The Sapphire Fairy and Fairy of the Woodland Glade in Sleeping Beauty, she has been a featured performer in Balanchine’s renowned Serenade, and has taken on principal roles such as the feisty Mercedes in Don Quixote, the lively Dew Drop Fairy, and the infamous Sugar Plum Fairy in Maine’s seasonal favorite, The Nutcracker.
 
Rhiannon has attended summer programs with the American Academy of Ballet as well as Boston Ballet’s Summer Intensive. She has taught classes with both Maine State Ballet and Center Stage Performing Arts and enjoys working with kids of all ages. She is thrilled to be a returning staff member with Center Stage. In her sophomore year at St. Joseph’s College of Maine she will be balancing being a full time student with the college, continuing to train, perform and teach with the Maine State Ballet as well as teaching at Center Stage Performing Arts. Additionally, Rhiannon is the editor of the blog , a published poet, and has contributed writings to various websites including Danceadvantage.net and is now proud to be working with Dakiki.com.

5 Tips to a Smooth Audition
At my home, Maine State Ballet, even the Sugar Plum Fairy needs to pin on an audition number. I don't mind the formality in the least either because it's a humbling reminder of where we all started.

The Benefits of a Choreographed Warm-Up
Particularly in my advanced jazz and tap classes, I like to have a pre-choreographed, routine warm-up that I teach at the beginning of the school year and we use to get class going for the rest of the season.
